THE AGED MAN

DAILY GRACE MON.11TH SEPT. 2017 THE AGED MEN TITUS 2:2 "That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience." The only instrument that can produce the aged men is the sound doctrine of the Lord Jesus Christ. By aged men, it implies mature elders in grace. But, it is rather not to be taken of the aged in point of chronological years/age. Disciples of Christ must conduct themselves in every thing agreeably to the Christian doctrine. Hence, the aged men be; 1.) Sober: Many have failed to understand the place of humility in being an example to the younger ones.  2.) Grave: Levity is unbecoming in many, but especially in some aged men today, which should be composed and stayed, grave in habit, speech, and behaviour. 3.) Temperate: Moderate and prudent, one who governs well his passions and affections. 4.) Sound in the faith: Sincere and stedfast, constantly adhering to the truth of the gospel, not fond of novelties, nor ready to run into corrupt opinions or parties, nor to be taken with Jewish fables or traditions of men. Those who are full of years should be full of grace and goodness, the inner man renewing more and more as the outer decays.  5.) Love or charity: this must be fitly joined with faith, and must be seen in love, love to God and men. It must be sincere love, without dissimulation. And love at all times, in adversity, as well as prosperity. Thus, there must be soundness in charity or love in the aged men. 6.) Patience: Aged persons are to be passionate and therefore need to keep maintaining endiring patience and waiting patience. The only way which quality values can be transferred from one generation to another is via the aged men who actually heed this sound doctrine of Christ Jesus. Enjoy your day! Personal Confession: Father, help me to abide and yield wholly to sound doctrine in Jesus' name.
