BEWARE OF COVETOUSNESS

DAILY GRACE SAT. 16TH SEPT 2017 BEWARE OF COVETOUSNESS LUKE 12:15 "Then He said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.” The scripture classifies covetousness as a very graveous sin before God. It has to do with the thoughts and intentions of the heart of a man (Gal. 5:19-21, Matt 7:21-23). To be covetous means having or showing strong desire for money and material possessions; this inordinate desire may often be for another man's possession. (Col. 3:5, 1 Tim. 6:6). How should a believer view or handle money or material possessions? 1.) Know that money is necessary and good to have as a believer. Poverty is not a sign of righteousness and God of all grace has made provision for His children and to get wealth (Deut. 8:18). Money is a blessing to those who handle it very well according to divine principles. And as a believer in Christ, you must have money but money must not have you! 2.) You must manage your relationship with God and money properly. (Matt. 6:19-24). The way you handle money will determine your success or failure in life as a believer in Christ. Let's take note of these things; a) Earthly treasure is uncertain. b) Examine where you have put your affection. c) You can not serve God and Mammon (pagan god of money). 3.) Money is a snare used by Satan (1 Tim. 6:9-11). If you don't handle money properly, you will be ensnared by your love for it. Satan uses money as one of his most effective snares. Beware not to sell your soul to the devil because of money. Enjoy your day! Personal Confession: Holy Spirit, teach me how to handle money and material blessings right in Jesus' name.
