TOPIC: IMITATE HIM
TEXT: EPH. 5:1
Happy new week to you. You will enjoy divine lifting this week and the Lord will make your life a shining light. May you be fresh and flourishing in Jesus' name.
"Therefore be imitators of God as dear children"
It's often said that imitation is limitation. Though it is true to some extent, especially when you imitate mortal men whose hearts have not yet been stirred up and cultured by God.
However, the scripture urges us not to become sluggish in faith, obedience, faithfulness and commitment to the Lord. Thus, endeavour to imitate those who through faith in God of all grace and patience inherit the promises (Heb. 6:12).
Apostle Paul even said in 1 Cor. 11:1 that, "Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ."
You should strive to imitate first the God whom you worship.
You must conform yourself to His example, and have His image renewed upon you.
We must be holy as God is holy (1Pet.1:14-16), merciful as He is merciful(Luke 6:36), perfect as He is perfect(Matt. 5:48). But there is no one attribute of God more recommended to our imitation than that of His goodness. Be you imitators of God of all grace, or resemble, following Him, in every grace, and especially in His love, and in His pardoning goodness. God is love, and those that dwell in love dwell in God and God in them. Thus, He has proclaimed His name, Gracious and merciful, and abundant in goodness.
As dear children, even as dearly beloved children of his parent usually resemble them in the character, conducts and features of their faces, and in the dispositions and qualities of their minds, or as become the children of God, who are beloved and cherished by their heavenly Father. Children are obliged to imitate their parents in what is good, especially when dearly beloved by them.
The character that we bear of God’s children oblige us to resemble Him, especially in His love and goodness, in His mercy and readiness to forgive. And those only are God’s dear children who imitate Him in these very acts indeed.
Beloved, you need to realize that when you imitate God of all grace, you *can not* be limited and you will become original copy of His personality. Therefore, seek to imitate Him daily.
Enjoy your day!
Personal Confession: Father, help me to imitate you daily via my character, conduct and lifestyle in Jesus' name.
Read, Reflect and rebroadcast to bless someone. God will bless you in return.
