DAILY GRACE SUN.25TH DEC, 2016 TOPIC: GOOD NEWS TEXT: LUKE 4:18 Beloved merry Christmas to you. It is my prayer that you celebrate this year's Christmas in a new and better dimension which will launch you into a full relationship with Jesus (the reason for this season). And Jesus boldly declared as He entered the Synagogue in Nazareth saying; " The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord." What a clear mission statements of Jesus! No wonder He fulfilled His destiny. You will also fulfil your destiny in Jesus' name. The Christ's vision was to do His Father's will and He plainly proclaimed how He was to accomplish His mission statements. The Holy Spirit was given to Jesus to help him fulfil His ministry on earth (Acts 10:38). So it is clear that without the endowment of the Holy Spirit, Jesus would have been limited in His earthly ministry. He was conceived and anointed by the Holy Spirit to proclaim good news of which He himself is that good news(Luke 2:13-14) The good news is the gospel, the authentic word of life (John 14:6; 6:63). The good news come with glad tidings and lots of glorious accompaniments like; a.) Freedom for the oppressed. b.) Recovery of sight to those blind spiritually and physically (Eph. 1:17-18). c.) Freedom for those imprisoned by the devil and his evil works. d.) Replacement of beauty for ashes in all areas of our lives. e.) Proclaiming the acceptable year of the Lord (Ish. 61: 2) . This is in accordance to the judgment of God that is to come upon all disobedient people. f.) Binding of every broken and shattered heart. g.) Giving comfort to every one that mourns due to one reason or the other. h.) Garment of praise in place of sadness or spirit of despair. All of the above are 'good' in themselves and they were also prophesied by Prophet Isaiah about what the Messiah was to come and do for His own very people. I pray for you that you shall enjoy all those good news that the Saviour has come witt this season and beyond in Jesus name.
