TOPIC: GAIN YOUR BROTHER 3
TEXT: MATT. 18:15-16

Welcome to a new day leading you to a wonderful and fulfilling weekend, and thank God is Friday. You will not loose your honor before God and man in Jesus' name.
 As we drive the concluding part of this very topic today from where we paused yesterday. Let’s look further at the reason, you need to take  with you one or more witnesses;

1. To Assist You: They may speak some pertinent convincing word which you did not think of, and may manage the matter with more prudence and maturity than you did. Note here, Christians should see their need of help in doing well, and pray in the aid of one another as in other things, so in giving reproofs, that the duty may be done well.

2. To Affect Your Brother: In order to affect him so that he will be more likely to be humbled for his fault, when he sees he's witnessed against by two or three. Deut. 19:15

3. To Be Witnesses of his Conduct: In case the matter should afterward be brought before the church. None should come under the censure of the church as obstinate and contumacious, till it be very well proved that they are so.
In addition, if he neglects to hear them and will not be humbled, then tell it to the church. Matt. 18:17.               
 
  There are some stubborn spirits to whom the likeliest means of conviction prove ineffectual, yet such must not be given over as incurably. But, let the matter be made more public, and further help called in because private admonitions must always go before public censures, and if gentler methods will do the work, those that are more rough and severe must not be used. Titus 3:10. 
Those that will be reasoned out of their sins, need not be shamed out of them. Let God’s work be done effectually, but with as little noise as may be. His kingdom comes with power, but not with observation. But, where private admonition does not prevail, then public censure must take place. The church must receive the complaints of the offended, and rebuke the sins of the offenders, and judge between them, after an impartial enquiry made into the merits of the cause.

Friends, the essence of gaining your brother is to avoid holding any grudge and prejudice towards him; and also recover him from the hand of the wicked, and ultimately both of you gaining eternity together.
