VOW TO GOD
DAILY GRACE
MON. 21ST NOV, 2016
TOPIC: VOW TO GOD
TEXT: ECCL. 5:4
Top of a new week to you. God will not allow your mistakes to mar your destiny in Jesus' name.
"When you make a vow to God, do not delay to pay it; for He has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you have vowed."
Making vow before the Lord can be done privately or publicly.
To be conscientious in paying your vows. A vow is a bond upon the soul (Num. 30:2), by which you solemnly oblige yourself to do and which you are already bound to do, but, in some particular instances, to do that which are not under any antecedent obligation, whether it respects honouring God or serving the interests of his kingdom among men.
When under the sense of some afflictions (Ps. 66:14), or in the pursuit of some mercy, and blessings like Hanah did (1 Sam. 1:11), you have vowed such a vow unto God, and you know that you have opened your mouth unto the Lord and you can not go back on it, therefore do the followings:
(1.) Pay it:- Perform and perfect what you have promised under His watch and bring to God what you have dedicated and devoted to Him. Earnestly decide to pay that which you have vowed, pay it in full not partial and keep not back any part of the vow or price. l urge you to pay it faithfully, do not alter it or change it, (Lev. 27:10).
Have you vowed to give your own self unto the Lord?
Then be as good as your word, let your word be your bond, and act in obedient to His word, and yield yourself to His service, to His glory, and not sacrilegiously alienate yourself from His grace.
(2.) Defer not to pay it. Some have wrong attitude of delaying the paynment of their vow to God deliberately, desist from such habit and If it be in the power of your hands to pay it to-day, leave it not till to-morrow, do not beg a day, nor put it off to a more convenient season.
By delay, you make the sense of the obligation slackens and cools, and is in danger of wearing off, thereby result to loathness and backwardness to perform your vow and he who is not inclined to-day will be aversed to-morrow. The longer it is put off the more difficult it will be to bring yourself to its payment, death may not only prevent the payment, but fetch you to judgment, under the guilt of a broken vow (Ps. 76:11).
To be continued....
Enjoy your day!
Personal Confession: Lord Jesus, l confess my failure to fulfil and pay my vow unto God, help me to be faithful from now in Jesus' name.
