TOPIC: VASHTI REFUSED
TEXT: ESTHER 1:12
                     
 Happy fulfilling weekend to you. The spirit of vashti will not rest upon you in the name Jesus Christ.
Today's subject is worthy of great consideration. We need to pick out some practical lessons from Queen Vashti's life.                    Vashti was a queen and also a wife to King Xerxes of the whole 127 provinces stretching from India to Cush.
What a great assignment to rule over such large provinces and provide governance: it's not a small task at all. The king was glad to have such a woman as a queen, she was beautiful and lovely to behold vs.11.
Apart from being a wife and a queen, what kind of spirit does she possess? 

1. spirit of pride:
She was full of herself. Her dignity, worth, prestige, beauty, honour and fame mattered most to her than obeying her husband-the king vs. 11-12. Beauty without character is a disaster.
         
 2. spirit of disobedience:
Blatant act of disobedience to authority figure in her life (her husband and king).vs. 12,15.
     
3. spirit of disrespect and discord:
  A house divided against itself can not stand. So, she failed to agree/submit to her husband. (Vs 18). This is simply act of disrespect and of course, anti-unity spirit. Every wife must guide against this spirit. Learn to always agree with your husband over godly things but avoid being husband and wife in the company of Ananias and Sapphira. Acts 5:1-10.  
                 
  4. spirit of despise and contempt: she despised the request of the king, possibly because she was use to the king as her husband. Vs. 17.               
  5.spirit of complacency: complacency is the root of decadence. She was complacent with the king, she failed to recognize her defining moment. She lacked sensitivity              and failed to weigh the repercussion of her action to disobey the king. Her action transcends her immediate family and the entire kingdom.
Friends, Vashti refused the King's instruction without considering the consequences of her refusal.
Have you not been refusing, despising,and ignoring God's order over your life too?
It is my prayer that God will help us to behave well in our defining moment in life in Jesus name.
