RANSOM FOR MANY

DAILY GRACE
FRI. 26TH FEBRUARY, 2016
TOPIC: RANSOM FOR MANY
TEXT: MARK 10:45

As this new weekend kick-off today, you will encounter grace to scale new heights and new levels of glory in Jesus' name.
The Son of God declare His personal mission statement on earth to His disciples in order to convince them of this, He sets before them His own example;
       (1.) He took upon Him the form of a servant, came not to be ministered to, and waited upon, but to minister, and wait to be gracious. (2.) He became obedient to death, and to its dominion, for He gave His life a ransom for many like you and I.
This is a supreme example of leadership and He has shown it by abandoning His status, which was as high as it could possibly be, and making Himself no reputation (Philippians 2:5-8).
He is the first who made Himself the slave of all. He said His death meant 'a ransom'. A ransom is what is paid to get a hostage or prisoner set free. In that sense, the ransom is the exact equivalent of the one who is bought out, the ransom takes their place. It is a direct, one-for-one substitution. Jesus’ death paid the ransom for you and I to be saved. Thus, you are saved to serve.
      The idea of a ransom payment does provide that note of substitution by an equivalent. ‘Many’. It pays what was due – the penalty of death, our death sentence for sin. There are echoes in this verse of that great passage in Isaiah 53 that describes the mission of the one who is known as ‘the Servant of the Lord’, especially in vs.11-12. Jesus has come to save  'many’ not 'few'. This is a message for all those who has been saved to rise for the salvation of others. He lives in order to die so that believers may be freed from the power of sin, self, Satan and death.

Personal Confession: Lord Jesus, your death on the cross will not be in vain over my life in Jesus Christ Name. Âmen.
